On Tuesday I had the pleasure of being introduced to a beta version of Savvy, a shopping app that will rock your world. The updated iPhone app launches today! (Android users, hold on because December 2nd will be your lucky day.)
Have you experienced either of these situations?
Scenario One: You see something you absolutely loooove, but the price is just a tad out of your budget. You promise yourself you'll keep checking to see if it goes on sale, but you forget, or don't have time to obsessively monitor it, so end up buying something later that isn't as fabulous as that first find.
Scenario Two: You buy something you adore, but then mere days later you see it for half-off, or your best friend gushes that she got the same item for way less than what you paid.
With Savvy in your pocket, you won't lose. Here's how:
When you see that amazing sweater that doesn't quite fit in your budget, scan the barcode with Savvy. The app will email you when the sweater goes on sale. Now you know when to plunk down your dollars. If there is a specific price that is your absolute top, tell Savvy and the app won't email you until the price drops below your pre-set limit. That way you aren't tempted until the purchase is truly feasible financially.
So say you do buy the sweater: Don't worry that you haven't gotten the lowest possible price. Just scan your receipt after purchase, and Savvy will let you know if the item goes on sale (or even more on sale) so you can get a refund for the difference, according to that retailer's policy. (Savvy knows all the policies, so will let you know when you need to act in order to take advantage!)
The fine folks at Savvy let me and a bunch of other Bay Area bloggers take the beta-version of the app on a test drive (see us happily shopping at right?) We scanned bar-codes to put on our "watch list," purchased items, and scanned our receipts. Now we'll wait to see when the app alerts us that the price has dropped. Since I'm an Android user, I'll be grabbing the app on December 2nd when it is released (so I'll start actually scanning receipts and putting Savvy in action then) but you iPhone users can get the iPhone Savvy shopping app today. (Meanwhile, since my shopping buddy is an iPhone user, she'll let me know if today's purchases go on sale so I can go get my refund!)
Thank you Savvy for funding some fine shopping. I'm eager to try out the app when it is released!
