Summer Vacation with Phineas and Ferb's Video Game

Phineas_and_Ferb_Across_2nd_Dimension_Video_Game.jpgFor more than a few summer vacations - and other times throughout the year - I've had the Phineas and Ferb theme song engrained in my brain. During the school year it is funny (as the boys lament that it isn't summer vacation) and during the summer it is downright freaky. After all, my kids do try to build a variety of contraptions, but unfortunately we don't have a clean-in-ator to magically zap their efforts into the ether. (I do have a long white lab coat and a black turtleneck, though.) That is, we didn't until now.

You see, with the Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension video game, my boys can construct all they want virtually without a physical mess. (This particularly awesome as I don't want to see an actual world of gelatin in my living room.)

Since my boys are such P&F fans, it is no surprise that they picked up the game as soon as it arrived in the mail. Although I haven't given it a go myself, I've overheard the banter and watched as the game has progressed through different worlds. I might be catching up on Facebook, but then hear things like "ninja gloves," and my attention snaps back to the game. From black and white mazes to colorful mushrooms, the Phineas and Ferb universe is ever-changing. Players must maneuver pinball machines, play "Perryball" (skeeball) and dress up their characters in garden gnome clothing. It isn't surprising that Phineas and Ferb definitely go on quite an adventure on this game. They pilot aircraft, race down twisty slides, and meet the new "Agent T." Fear not, Perry is still an integral part of the crew, as are plenty of other characters familiar from the television series.

It wouldn't be Phineas & Ferb without the ridiculous and the innovative. After all, I remember being quite perplexed when a friend tried to introduce the show to me before I had seen it myself. "Two boys build contraptions that magically disappear when an evil guy bent on taking over the world tri-state area accidentally wipes it out at the end of each episode." Um, okaaaaay. Likewise, Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension has plenty of unbelievable, kooky elements. The boys have really enjoyed playing it thus far, and are eager to find out what other worlds still await them in the game.

Phineas and Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension hits store shelves today, August 2nd. Phineas and Ferb's first ever upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie will air on August 5th. Apparently the video game is a tie-in to the movie, so of course the boys are eager to watch the latter!
