I'm not going to lie and say I do a lot of bike-riding (although I did when I was younger!) But when I go out cycling I like to keep my noggin safe.
For years now I've been buying the helmets in the bike section of various all-purpose stores. We even got some free helmets once during a health event. But, these seemed to wear out really quickly, well before their time.
I first learned about Nutcase Helmets thanks to my eat.blog.run teammates, the same folks who invented Sparkle Skirts. I visited the Nutcase site, and immediately ordered a pretty pink one for my head.
My youngest son was insanely jealous, so stole it for himself a couple times. Thanks to the adjustable pads, it can fit his head, too.
Otherwise, here are the helmets my boys have been wearing:

These weren't left in the sun for days or otherwise pounded with hammers, and yet they are warped and cracked. My Nutcase helmet has been left outside a few times with the above specimens, yet it looks perfectly fine.
While a Nutcase helmet at $55-60 is much more expensive than a drugstore one at $10, I'd surely prefer to spend the cash to have one that actually protects my kids' brains. Besides, at the rate we're going through the $10 ones, I could easy spend much more than $60. And so, in preparation for the school year, I've just ordered my boys their own Nutcase helmets. While they won't ride their bikes to school every day, I'll feel much better knowing their heads are safe when they do.
Besides, Nutcase Helmets are as stylin' as they are sturdy!

Disclaimer: I paid for mine and my boys' Nutcase Helmets on my own. I am not receiving any sort of compensation or commission for my post. I've just been so impressed with my Nutcase helmet that I wanted to spread the word!
