Some time ago I was running a giveaway here. I posted it on Prizey, and while I was over there, figured I'd check out the other giveaways going on. One in particular caught my eye - for some bars from Core Foods. As a super-busy person who is always in my van chauffeuring someone to something, or at my computer with deadlines that don't involve the oven timer, I was attracted to the idea of 100% organic, raw, whole food to-go. Often convenience bars are filled with bleech, but these sounded good. And so I entered to win a case. Why not? I figured.
Well, I didn't win. But, Core Foods emailed me promoting a deal from this company called blissmo. For a deep discount I could get a sample set of all the Core Food bars, plus a voucher for an entire case of my favorite flavor.
I was thrilled with both the deal and the discount service. Blissmo is like "groupon" (or "plum district," "juice in the city," or any of those other discount providers) in that they email subscribers with info on their daily flash sale. But what is unique about blissmo is that it is specifically for eco-conscious and organic products. These are kind products without the garbage (both literally and figuratively.) I signed up for blissmo to get the Core Foods deal, but was then blown away once my "daily deal" emails came in.
(In case you are curious, my favorite Core Food meal is the Cashew Cacao Defender bar, which is a vegan meal replacement made of nuts and raw flax to deliver all 13 aminos, 100% raw plant fiber, and high essential fatty acids. I'm one of those "always hungry" people, but the Defender bar fills me up whenever I need food on the go. It is so good that I've subscribed to their case-a-month service.)
From pencils (made of reclaimed wood scraps) to pedicures (eco-friendly nail polish), blissmo has presented me all kinds of fabulous products at terrific discounts. If I had an unlimited bank account, I'd buy up every deal that comes through my email box. There have been lotions, shampoos, snacks, kids' toys, and more. One favorite purchase is some excellent felt earrings from an eco-chic shop called Feisty Elle using a blissmo voucher.
As if the daily emails weren't enough, I soon learned of something called the blissmobox. They started this past May with a "Home & Laundry Cleaning" box that included really neat eco-conscious products such as from the company that makes my favorite laundry detergent and hand soap - method. Alas, I hadn't joined by then, but signed up in time to receive the June "Food & Beverage" blissmobox. I enjoyed treats like buckwheat-cacao granola, macademia-coconut bars, quinoa, tea, and a yummy lightly-carbonated juice concoction. For July, I got to choose between "Summer Snacks" and "Get Outdoors."
If I don't want to buy a box that month, I can just tell them - easy, peasy. Otherwise, I pay $19 (plus $3 shipping) for more than $19 worth of products. And the cool thing is that YOU can get on this month's deal for $11 plus free shipping. Although the "Summer Snacks" box is sold out, the "Get Outdoors" box is curated by Premal Shah, President of Kiva.org and is valued at a whopping $43. (Seriously? You can pay $11 for $43 worth of products!?) For each box sold, blissmo will donate a portion of proceeds to Kiva in support of their mission to alleviate global poverty.
If you decide to sign up for the blissmobox, do so before Tuesday, since the July blissmobox deal expires then. Of course, you can sign up after that, but it will be the standard $19/box + $3 S&H and you'll start with the August box. If a blissmobox isn't for you, consider signing up for blissmo emails since you might score a fabulous deal.
(Oh, and if you decide to sign up for the blissmobox, kindly use the email "karianna (at) karianna (dot) us" - in which you use the @ and the actual dot, of course - as the referrer, because I will get a small commission. Or, don't, if you are against that sort of thing. I'm still happy to pass on the news of blissmo, since I've really enjoyed the companies I've learned about through their emails and the blissmobox I've received thus far.)

Disclaimer: I am writing about blissmo because I love it. The products I mention here, as well as the blissmo service itself, are all things that I enjoy. None of these brands contacted me for publicity; as such, I will receive no compensation for posting about them here, EXCEPT I will receive a commission should you sign up for blissmo (and make a purchase!) and/or if you purchase a blissmobox with the referral "karianna (at) karianna (dot) us" (in which you use the @ and the actual dot, of course.) This is the same deal that other blissmo subscribers get, so is not unique to me posting about it here.
