I like gum. It is good stuff. I have several favorite brands, but for the most part, I can pick up nearly any brand and be satisfied. For me, it is more the flavor that matters than the name on the label. Most out there have similar flavor and similar consistency, so my choice is a matter of price and availability.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm eagerly awaiting a specific gum's release to the general public in October.
That's right, I'm excited about gum.
During the hoopla that was the BlogHer convention, I got my hands some packs of Extra Dessert Delights. I have both "Mint Chocolate Chip" and "Key Lime Pie." There is also a "Strawberry Shortcake" flavor that I have yet to try.
Well, Extra Dessert Delights is not your ordinary gum. It sounds cliche, but it brings to mind Willy Wonka's desire to create gum that actually tastes like food.
And it does.
Sure, gum has had a mint flavor for decades. But chocolate-mint? Nope, not like this. Dessert Delights honestly tastes like a bowl of mint-chocolate-chip ice-cream. Similarly, the key lime pie flavor isn't just a "lime" that might be reminiscent of a popular soft drink. Instead, I can taste the lime, but also the zing of the crust. YES, THE CRUST!
Of course, I'm not the only one in my family smitten. My kids love both flavors and have asked me repeatedly to give them a stick. Unfortunately, since I won't be able to actually purchase the gum until October, I have over a month to carefully ration my free sample sticks.
I love that with Dessert Delights sugar-free gum I'll be able to grab a stick of gum at 5 calories apiece instead of scarf down a treat with a calorie count in the hundreds for the actual dessert. Plus, chewing has its benefits, especially for someone like me, who would otherwise nibble on her nails (or on a high-calorie treat.)
I'm definitely glad I was introduced to Extra Dessert Delights gum during BlogHer, and am eager for October to arrive so I can get my hands on more!
