On Wednesday, March 3rd I took my boys to see Disney Worlds of Fantasy, courtesy of Feld Entertainment and Mom Central. Then a day later, I was on a plane to Orlando, FL where on Sunday, March 7th I successfully completed the "Tiarathon," otherwise known as the Disney Princess Half-Marathon. (I'll pause to brag that on February 7th I ran a half-marathon, too!)
As I sat watching the ice show, I couldn't help but become emotional because I knew what I was about to do just a few days later. After months of looking forward to running like a princess, it was almost here! Of course the show was magic - from the revved-up Cars, to my youngest son's favorite princess Ariel, to Tinkerbell's antics - and the kids loved their time. And then I was definitely caught up in it all, knowing that although Mickey and Minnie were on the ice, soon I'd be running right next to them.
Of course, the boys weren't psyched about my run. (Bad mama I was to dash off to Disney World without them, eh?) But they were super-excited about Worlds of Fantasy.
We were very lucky and got some excellent seats fairly close to the front of the ice. Unfortunately, there were some business-like adults who also sat in our section and happened to sit right in front of us. They were tall. We are not tall. And so, we moved over temporarily so that my kids could see. When the actual ticket-holders arrived, we scooted back to our assigned seats and did some creative lap-sitting and leaning so that we could see. Fortunately, some of the adults later left.
And... as the show got on, we became less concerned with adults' heads, and more mesmerized by what was going on in front of us. Of course there were plenty of special-effects that were easily visible no matter where in the arena we happened to be seated. Some of the prettiest things were actually way up high, as performers weren't glued to the ice. The show incorporates action in each of the corners of the arena so nobody is left out.
Like the previous shows, my kids enjoyed knowing the story but learning more by seeing the tale play out before their eyes with extra effects. In the case of Tinkerbell's section, the story was new, so my youngest son's eyes were wide open. He proceeded to watch one of the Pixie Hollow movies over and over for the next several days.
The show was amazing, and definitely pumped me up for my trip. Although Disney on Ice is no longer in my area, it might be in yours! Besides, since they are always doing new shows, I'm willing to bet I'll see my BFFs Mickey and Minnie pretty soon.
Plus, even if I don't see them on ice, I know I'll see them this September in Disneyland, because I'm already signed up for the Disneyland Half-Marathon, which I hope will be as magical as the Princess Half. Last year I did the Disneyland 5k and remember being awed at those doing the half-marathon. Amazing that now I'll be doing the half. Like I keep saying, if I can do it, you can do it.

Disclaimer: Feld Entertainment gave me four great tickets to Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy in exchange for promoting the discount code both in a post and on Twitter. I did not receive monetary compensation, nor will I receive further compensation for posting here. As for the mentions of the Disney Endurance events (Princess Half-Marathon, Disneyland Half-Marathon, and Disneyland 5k) - I paid for all of the expenses for these races including the race fees, airplane, hotel room, and food. (And yeah, tons and tons of money on souvenirs, both for me and the kids.) Disney hasn't given me anything in exchange for posting. My interest and enthusiasm for these events is all my own. Having some Disney magic gave me great motivation to run. By way of complete transparency, Disney did send me a pretty holiday ornament and a cool glittery baseball cap, but I'm pretty sure I'm on a list of Disney enthusiast-bloggers who gets these goodies, so this isn't a specific "payment" on their part for me to continue to blog and tweet about Disney events.
