Iced Tea for Me

This is a compensated review from
BlogHer and Crystal Light Water Way Challenge

Iced Tea for Me I'll admit, when the box from Crystal Light arrived, I was a little disappointed to see a big canister of Iced Tea included in my assigned flavors.

I shouldn't have been worried - I really liked the taste of the pomegranate lemonade, but I like the peach iced-tea even better.

Usually iced tea tastes yucky to me. Although I have particular types of tea that I like to drink iced, the instant variety usually leaves something to be desired. Initially, I didn't see the "peach" so was expecting the "straight up tea-tasting" stuff. These varieties can either be too flat - with that taste that the tea was overbrewed - or over-sweetened (especially when "lemon" is involved - yuk!)

But this peach iced-tea tastes just sweet enough to be pleasant, but not too sweet. It is refreshing rather than heavy like some other tea-flavored beverages.

The in-a-canister thing was something that I thought would be a big deal. After all, I like the convenience of those little on-the-go packets. I originally thought I'd open the cylinder to discover a bunch of powder that I'd then use to create the 2 quart iced-tea, but if I accidentally sneezed I could ruin the whole canister.

Not so.

Instead, each tube contains six individual packets of the tea powder, and then each packet creates 2 quarts (8 cups) of tea. Like with the pomegranate lemonade, I bet I could increase the water volume without significantly altering the taste in the event that I want to completely fill my pitcher (pictured above.)

Once when I was three, a sitter asked me, "Do you want to draw a pit-ture?" I responded, "A PITCHER is something from which we pour water. A PICTURE is something we draw." I digress... Both pitcher and picture are above.

This is definitely a quick way to get a beverage on the table for a party, book club, or other social event. It sure beats brewing a bunch of bags of tea, then waiting for it to cool.

Since I wasn't making the tea for a social event, I poured some of it into two sports bottles for my individual use. I covered the pitcher with plastic wrap to put in the fridge. I drank the whole pitcher by the end of the day. If I had several sports bottles, I could fill all of them up to avoid having an open container in the fridge. Otherwise, those on-the-go packets are sure handy!

I can definitely see how the canister is useful - making large amounts at a time can definitely be convenient in its own way. I was surprised at how nice it was to just grab the pre-mixed drink from the fridge (which meant it was super cold, too!) rather than emptying a packet into a glass each time.

In sum, both the canister-type and on-the-go type of Crystal Light is handy in their own ways.

As for my water versus soda tally, I drank three diet sodas today, the most of any day thus far on the Challenge. I was on the road quite a lot today and emptied my pre-filled-with-Crystal-Light sports bottles much quicker than I anticipated. I also ended up getting an orange juice while I was out and about. Here's hoping tomorrow goes a little better!

Sky:

I'm an ice tea drinker. I love it. Plain, unsweetened. It is my vice! However, I do love the treat of Crystal Light Peach tea! Yum! This is going to sound weird, but I'll even half freeze some and make it slushie...it's pretty good that way too!
