The Great Toilet Paper Debate

I try to prevent my elementary-school-aged boys from "talking potty" but we adults do it all the time.

Remember that episode of The Bachelor when whoever the Bachelor was at the time (I think it was Andrew Firestone) made a big deal about how chicks waste toilet paper? He said he didn't understand why people take more than just a few squares, or why they "ball it up" to wipe. Well, I'm glad I don't do his laundry if he only uses two squares per #2. I still assert that my favorite Bachelor moment was the whole Olive Garden bit, though. Ahem.

And then there is the whole softness factor. My mom has a very specific brand of toilet paper that she loves. (And this obsession has gone on for years; she can tell when I've bought something not-quite-right.) Interestingly, her brand is rather tough. I wouldn't go so far as to say "scratchy" but in comparison to some of the really-super-plush brands, hers is definitely more sandpapery than soft. I admit hers holds up well, though, while sometimes those "comfortable" ones don't really do their job.

But no toilet paper discussion is more "controversial" than the whole "roll over or roll under" one. People get really up-in-arms about this. In fact, I've heard of people who will undo someone else's roll to "get it right."

Read on to a Spectrum of Reviews for more about the great roll-over or roll-under debate. Find out on which side I hang and another little trick I may-or-may-not do when I visit other people's bathrooms...
