Cheshire Cat
The Cat had his first swimming lesson yesterday. He grinned through the whole thing.
He was excited when I told him it was the day for class. He got on his bathing suit and wanted to go to the place immediately. When we arrived, he announced that it was the wrong school.
Indeed, I had taken him earlier to two branches of the same swim school for him to decide which he liked the best. His favorite doesn’t begin classes until April, and I knew he was eager to begin, so for March we are at the other location.
I explained that he would be at the one he selected starting in April. Satisfied, he grinned his way through the entrance and started exploring the reception room. He wanted to go out to the pool, but we were too early.
I had figured we should arrive early to give him a chance to watch the other kids having their lessons. I figured he’d be hesitant.
I was wrong!
When it was his turn, he got right in. He mimicked the instructor perfectly. Cupped hands, blowing bubbles, kicks. I was surprised, shocked, and happy to see that the Cat was following instructions and having fun.
When his lesson was over, he pouted at me. “I want to go home. I don’t like swim class” he jested. He complained that he was too cold. But later, as we drove by a swimming pool on our way home, he asked if he could go swimming again.
Hopefully Thursday’s lesson will be as successful!
